The Wakeland football team opened the season Friday with a tight matchup against Sulphur Springs. The Wolverines rallied with two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, but came up short 37-35.
Wakeland's Garrett Field caught three passes for a whopping 177 yards. Two of his catches were for long touchdowns: 91 and 86 yards. He also returned an interception 12 yards for a touchdown.
Wakeland's next game is Friday (Sept. 7) against Richardson Pearce. Game time at Richardson's Eagle-Mustang Stadium is 7:30 p.m.
