Runners from Frisco ISD performed well Thursday at the 22nd annual Ken Gaston Invitational in Arlington, led by a dominant performance by the Wakeland girls cross country team.

Wakeland won the elite girls team title, the 5A/6A open team title and also featured the top two finishers in the girls elite 5,000-meter race.

Wakeland’s Isabella West won the elite 5,000 meters with a time of 18 minutes, 59.50 seconds. Teammate Mackenzie Davis was second (19:06.80) and Wakeland’s Chloe Smith was also in the top 10 (seventh, 19:13.50).

In the elite boys 5,000 race, Frisco High’s Kevin Curry was fourth with a time of 15:56.60. Wakeland was third in the elite boys team standings and led by Cayden Marsh, who finished 16th in a time of 16:36.20.

Heritage’s Alyssa Duhart won the girls open 5A/6A 5,000 race with a time of 19:32.50.

Frisco ISD was well-represented in both the boys and girls 5A/6A open races.

The top-10 finishers among the girls in the open race were Wakeland’s Cori Cochran (2nd), Memorial’s Rachel Loetzer (4th), Wakeland’s Victoria Altieri (6th), Wakeland’s Sophie Knowles (8th), Wakeland’s Emily Hartshorn (9th) and Wakeland’s Katherine Byrne (10th).

The top-10 finishers among the boys in the open race were Heritage’s Marcus Freeman (2nd), Heritage’s Josiah Asmeron (3rd), Liberty’s Jahson Ferguson (7th) and Lone Star’s Steve Austin (8th).
