In response to the rapidly changing circumstances surrounding COVID-19 (Coronavirus), all Frisco ISD athletic events have been suspended until further notice. This includes practices, as well as open gyms and weight rooms.

This is a dramatic step, but the World Health Organization has declared the Coronavirus outbreak a pandemic and the Centers for Disease Control, along with medical professionals and state and federal health officials, urge such action to minimize the risks to FISD students, staff, families and the surrounding community. Other school districts in North Texas are taking the same action, and the University Interscholastic League (UIL), the governing body for public-school athletics in Texas, has suspended UIL competition through March 29.

“We know how this impacts our students, teams and families, and we appreciate their patience and understanding during these unprecedented circumstances,” Frisco ISD Athletic Director David Kuykendall said. “The District will be in constant communication with county health officials as we monitor the situation and plan for what is to come.”

Regarding academics in Frisco ISD, in-person classes have been suspended until further notice and will be replaced with virtual instruction and other alternative learning options starting Tuesday, March 17. Information on virtual instruction can be found here and more will be shared in the days to come through school principals and District communication to parents.
