Congratulations to the Liberty golf team, which defended its championship Friday and Saturday in the Frisco Cup. The Redhawks rallied from three shots back after the first day of competition to win the event at Frisco Trails Golf Course.

Liberty finished with a two-day stroke total of 962, followed by Centennial (999) and Wakeland (1,000). The seventh annual event featured all the FISD varsity golf teams, and each school’s boys and girls totals were combined to crown a champion.

The girls individual champion was Wakeland’s Sydney Williams, who shot a two-round total of 151 to win by one stroke. Lebanon Trail’s Ryan Ko and Madison Phung each shot 152 to tie for second.

The boys individual champ was Memorial’s Nathan Pheng, who finished with a two-round total of 152. Liberty’s Mitchell Kalka (153) was second and Frisco’s Corey Maher (155) was third.
